SteelConsult International is an independent consulting firm, entirely dedicated to the carbon steel sector, serving clients in the iron ore, metallurgical coal and steel industries and markets. SteelConsult provides services in strategic consulting, market research, economics analysis and workshops. We have extensive experience in the markets for all main steel products, covering steelmaking raw materials, semis, sheet, longs and plate.

From our offices in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) we work for clients around the globe. Our customers include companies with a variety of interests in steel: mills, consumers, traders, distributors and processors of steel as well as banks, government institutions and suppliers to the steel industry.

Our clients include Global Top-5 players in the steel, iron ore and coal industries.

SteelConsult was founded by Gilles Calis in 2004. Gilles has 25 years’ experience working as a consultant to the iron and steel industry, incl. with Hoogovens Technical Services/Corus Consulting (currently known as Tata Steel Consulting) in IJmuiden (The Netherlands) and with Hatch Consulting and CRU in the UK. Gilles is a regular speaker at key industry events, including conferences organized by Kallanish, Platts/SBB, Metal Bulletin, World Steel Dynamics and the Arab Iron & Steel Union.

In addition to its own staff, SteelConsult has a network of highly experienced specialists who have worked many years in senior positions within the steel industry.
